Burning questions

What is your ethnic heritage?

I am Filipino, born in the United Kingdom brought up in West London, city girl through and through (although the countryside is my sanctuary) I know London like the back of my hand, like a black cab knows his street postcodes. I am as Filipino as I am British, in equal balance.

Both of my parents were of Filipino descent and were one of the first generation Filipinos that arrived in the U.K, and what a life the built up for themselves here – proud of my Dad and Mum.

The best and not-so-great thing about being a parent?

Parenting is life-affirming and humbling, but if I had to think of the not-so-good factors would have to be the tantrums and meltdowns! I still feel like I am in the Twilight Zone, even after five years of having Lucas.

Lucky to have a good and well-behaved kid eighty per cent of the time, the stresses that can come with parenting – I got you! A challenge worth receiving because parenting is rewarding.

What is your ultimate life hack?

To know every hack in the book!

What are your favourite brands or places to shop your under ten items per season?

I trawl vintage and charity shops in and around London when I am lucky to spot one for pre-loved items.

I still champion shopping high street and appreciate high luxury brands, I gravitate towards Uniqlo for basics, the umbrella of brands such as HM, COS, Arket and other stories. Isabel Marant, Acne Studios, and Sezane are hand picks of my favourite High-end Fashion brands that make quality and functional pieces – all investments in your closet.

I have a never ending romance with style, one hundred percent inherited my chic style genes from my Mum.

Best thing about being British Filipino in London?

Not only do I get to enjoy the plethra of Filipino cuisines in London, but love that there is a massive community in the U.K like one big family coming together, definitely feels nostalgic :)

One piece of advice to stay stylish but on a budget?

Keep to 10 items or less every season and repeat.

Stuck on a desert island what one item would you take with you?

Music is one of my first loves so, music and headphones, I couldn’t live without music! Or I would bring my APX600 electro-acoustic guitar.

We should think more about…

The planet and being more resourceful, think what kind of world would you like our kids to live in? *just a thought*

Last crazy experience…

Went to the Canary Islands for a milestone Birthday last year, ended up going to a rave in the middle of no where to only after an hour or two be evacuated as police came to stop the shenanigans – ooopppsss! haha
